Quick actions

Type a slash command to check costs, list resources and policies, create a budget, or start a draft in one step.

Quick actions are shortcuts in the AI assistant. Instead of opening a module and filling in a form, type a slash command and get a result in the chat.

Open the command menu

Type / in the message box, or click the Quick actions button next to it. The menu lists the commands with a short description each, and narrows down as you keep typing. Use the arrow keys and Enter, or click, to pick one. Picking a command puts an editable example in the message box. Nothing is sent until you send it, so change the example first.

Commands that run instantly

These commands do not wait for the AI model. They fetch the data or create the item straight away and show a result card in the chat with the outcome and the key details.

CommandWhat it doesExample
/cost-dataTotal cloud spend over the last number of days, broken down by account. days is optional and defaults to 30/cost-data days=30
/resourcesThe first page of your discovered cloud resources/resources
/policiesThe governance policies currently in effect/policies
/create-budgetCreates a real budget in FinOps/create-budget name=Prod-Monthly amount=5000 period=MONTHLY

Create a budget

/create-budget takes these values, written as name=value (use quotes if a value contains spaces):

ValueRequiredNotes
nameYesThe budget name
amountYesA number greater than zero
periodNoDAILY, MONTHLY (the default), YEARLY or CUSTOM
startDateNoDefaults to today
descriptionNoFree text

The budget measures the enterprises selected in the Enterprise picker, or every enterprise you can access when none is selected. It is created for real, so check the example before you send it. If something is missing or invalid, for example a missing name or an amount that is not a number, the result card explains what to fix and nothing is created. You need the same access to create budgets as in FinOps. See FinOps.

Commands that start a draft

These commands send what you write after them to the AI model, which prepares a draft for you to review. Nothing is created until you accept it.

CommandWhat it doesLearn more
/create-policyDrafts a compliance policyDraft policies with AI
/create-workspaceDrafts a workspace and an optional stack, with TerraformWorkspaces and Terraform with AI
/create-dashboardDesigns a dashboard from your dataCreate dashboards with AI

These three need an AI provider to be connected. See AI provider setup.

Good to know

  • Quick actions use your own access, so they can only read or create what you could in the console.
  • If you type a / word that is not in the menu, the assistant treats it as an ordinary message.
  • For everything else, just ask in plain language. See the AI assistant.
